On behalf of Truckee Meadows Community College, Equity and Diversity Office, thank you for helping make our 21st Annual Multicultural Festival another great success. It is through the support of organizations such as yours and our community's involvement that make this even possible. Your kind donation of a variety of certificates (Starbuck's, La Fuente, movie passes, Bed, Bath & Beyond) and two lovely gift baskets is sincerely appreciated. There were 1,700-2,000 people in attendance. Comments and feedback that we received about the Festival are extremely positive. Those that attended the Festival stated that they had a good time; that the entertainment was diverse and excellent; they were pleased with the public information which provided them an opportunity to know more about our diverse community; they liked the craft tables which were representative of various cultures; and we received many favorable comments about the food which they found was especially tasty and affordable. Additionally, people liked the opportunity to win door and raffle prizes. The proceeds from the Festival benefited the Associated Students of Truckee Meadows (ASTM), the student Clubs and TMCC student scholarships. We are already planning next year's Multicultural Festival which will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2007, from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the same location, the V. James Eardley Student Services Center. We hope we can once again count on your generous support. As you can see from the enclosed program, it was a day filled with fun and variety. Should you wish to contact me, please call 673-7103 or email me at cromo@tmcc.edu. Again, thank you for your generosity; we wouldn't be as successful without your participation. Carlos D. Romo, Ph.D. Taste For Travel was again well attended with another fantastic variety of appetizers, desserts and auction packages offered. It was a night to be remembered by all who participated & attended, raising valuable dollars to support the C*A*R*E Chest efforts year-round. Proceeds help to provide FREE medical equipment and supplies for more then 7,000 families every year while saving millions in taxpayer dollars too. Please know Carlos, that you kindness in donating helps children & adults continue being productive, contributing members of our community. We appreciate your generosity, thank you for caring! Patti Meals If you should need further recommendation, please do not hesitate to give me a call. Marcia K. Hansen I too chose Nevada as the home of my business when, as a veterinarian, I decided to open Nevada's first 24-hour animal hospital. You know as I do that businesses thrive in a productive atmosphere where federal concerns are addressed and dealt with promptly. Having practiced for several years, I was convinced that many of the problems faced by our small business community were a result of excessive and unnecessary regulations from our government. Currently, I serve on the Senate Small Business committee. Through this committee I am able to serve you by ensuring that the interests of small businesses are not overlooked in the legislative process. I am committed to helping small businesses such as yours succeed in an environment that fosters growth and productivity. Together, I believe that we can help make the state of Nevada a better place to work and live. I welcome the opportunity to assist you and your staff with any small business concerns or other federal issues that may arise. If we can be of assistance, please contact my Northern Nevada director, Verita Prothro, in my Reno office or my legislative aide, Lindsay Lovien, in my Washington D.C. office. John Ensign
